EXTREME LASHES
I've always loved the look of a full lash but unfortunately have never been a girl with naturally long lashes. To top it all off the lashes I do have are blonde at the tips, which makes them look even shorter then they already are. Because of this, I’ve always had to improvise when I go to events! Individual falsies, strips, and extensive amounts of mascara have always been my go-tos when I need to get dolled up. So when I heard about the Xtreme Eyelash Extensions, I was sold!I decided that it was time for me to get these magical things. So, I booked an appointment as soon as I could at Eleventh Hour Salon in the West Loop. When I got there, I had no idea what this process would entail. So when I found out it would take close to three ours I freaked out a bit, thinking... "Ain't nobody got time for that!" However, what happened during the actual process of getting these lashes was a bit of a comical, intense experience that I'd love to share with you.At first, I laid down and the eyelash expert (an adorable girl) taped the bottom of my lashes to the upper part of my cheek. This is so your bottom lashes don't get glued to the top ones, when the glue is applied. This was beyond bizarre, it felt totally weird and was impossible to open my eyes. From here, the eyelashes are applied individually lash by lash onto your own lashes. This gives the appearance of a completely natural lash and is amazing when you have no make-up whatsoever because these things look totally real! Check out the photo above of before and after. This however, is also the reason the entire experience results in three whole hours of laying there with my eyes completely shut. For the first hour or so, I had nothing but anxious thoughts flowing through my mind. I kept thinking, will I come out looking like a tarantula? Will all my eyelashes fall out? What if I'm allergic to the chemicals in the glue? Was this a mistake? If it was, then I certainly couldn’t go back now. With the uncomfortable experience of glue constantly slipping into my eye causing a burning sensation, I kept asking myself if I really needed these lashes. Was this really worth it?Although I had anxiety during the first half of the process, which by the way has nothing to do with the salon but more with my personality. I get anxious regarding any new procedure or anything unknown when it comes to beauty treatments. An hour into it or so, and I began to feel calm...too calm if you ask me. You know how you feel afraid of falling a sleep on the massage table in case you do something weird in front of the tech?! You know what I mean?! So when I became too relaxed, I began to think, what if I fall a sleep and drool?! I didn’t want to be that crazy girl drooling on the bed getting my glamorous lashes put in! My crazy thoughts seemed to make the time go by faster and before I knew it, I was ready to open my eyes. As soon as I saw these beautiful lashes upon my face, I was instantly impressed and so relieved!!!I learned that your natural eyelash only sheds every 60-90 days and is replaced with a new lash. Because of this, I am required to get touch ups to replace the lashes that have completed their life cycle. The touch-ups however are only one hour. Getting these Xtreme Lashes was quite the experience but I couldn't be happier with the results!
